- Why buy food processing equipment from Italy?
- Italy combines a dense engineering district — Parma, Bologna, Piacenza, Verona — with process experience on tomato, dairy, juice, preserves, fish and pet food. In practice that means a single supplier can engineer reception, process, filling and packaging as one line, wet-test it before shipment, and issue CE and EHEDG documentation in English for EU, UK, US and Gulf inspections.
- How much does a turnkey food processing plant cost?
- Indicative budget bands, machinery only: a small preserves, sauce or jam line at 500–1,500 kg/h typically sits in the low hundreds of thousands of euro; a mid-size juice or UHT dairy plant at 5,000–10,000 l/h with aseptic filling usually runs from roughly one to three million euro; a full tomato-season plant sized for a short campaign is larger again. Buildings, utilities (steam, chilled water, compressed air), civil works and installation normally add another 20–35%, and automation or traceability packages 5–10%. These are sizing bands, not quotations: the figure only becomes reliable after throughput, product mix, packaging format and available utilities are fixed.
- What is the typical lead time for an Italian-built processing line?
- Indicative schedules: standard machines and pre-engineered skids ship in about 12–20 weeks; a process section with pasteuriser or evaporator plus CIP is roughly 5–7 months; a full turnkey line with aseptic filling, custom process and automation is normally 8–12 months from signed layout to hot commissioning. Inside that, expect around 3–5 weeks for detailed engineering and P&ID approval, 2–4 weeks for factory acceptance testing with water, 2–6 weeks for sea freight depending on destination, and 3–8 weeks on site for erection, commissioning and operator training. Seasonal plants — tomato above all — are scheduled backwards from the campaign start date, so a decision after February usually means the following campaign.
- Do you supply food processing equipment outside the EU?
- Yes. Equipment is engineered for the destination from the start: 400 V/50 Hz or 480 V/60 Hz, imperial or metric fittings, container-optimised skids, sea-freight preservation, and installation crews that travel to site for mechanical erection, commissioning, HACCP validation and operator training.
- Can a line be sized for small and medium producers?
- Yes. Pilot and small-scale configurations start around 500–1,000 litres or kilograms per hour and are laid out so the same footprint accepts a second filler or a larger evaporator later. Designing the expansion into the first layout is far cheaper than rebuilding utilities two years afterwards.
- Which certifications and standards should the equipment meet?
- For the EU and UK: CE marking under the Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, hygienic design to EN 1672-2 and EHEDG guidelines, food-contact compliance under EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011 for plastics and elastomers, pressure equipment under PED 2014/68/EU where vessels apply, and AISI 304L/316L surfaces with 3.1 material certificates. For the US: 3-A sanitary standards and FDA-compliant contact materials, plus documentation supporting FDA 21 CFR 113/117 and USDA reviews — including F₀ scheduled-process and thermal-validation records for low-acid canned or retorted products. Cross-cutting requests we handle routinely: ATEX for dust or solvent zones, halal and kosher process documentation, and audit dossiers for BRCGS, IFS and FSSC 22000 covering cleanability, drainability and traceability of contact parts. Every project ships with a technical file, declaration of conformity, calibration certificates and English-language manuals.
- Do you retrofit or upgrade an existing plant?
- Yes. A common project is adding aseptic filling, a new pasteuriser or a CIP station to a running factory. The work starts with an audit of the current line — measured throughput, bottlenecks, utilities headroom — so the new section is sized against reality and installed inside a planned shutdown window.
- What after-sales support comes with the equipment?
- Spare-parts supply and remote diagnostics are guaranteed for at least ten years after commissioning, with scheduled maintenance plans, operator refresher training and on-site intervention. Critical wear parts are listed at handover so the plant can stock them before the first production season.
